Apophysis Jark by DeepChrome Apophysis Jark by DeepChrome
Apophysis 2.0 with the flame exporter as the renderer at my usual rendering quality settings.

There were long lines similar to his anal probe in the original Apophysis render, but they weren't in his hands, so I basically cut and pasted one from the original render into the final picture.

I'd do more with it, but I wanted the fractal to show....the "body" of the yellow alien basically came out completely in Apophysis. Took some triangle-putzing to get it Just So, but I'm happy with my first try on this kind of thing. :D

Enjoy.

Fractals often remind me of fireworks, especiallyApophysis Jark by *DeepChrome. A fun fractal with a great deal of novelty! ( Suggested by deliquescence and Featured by damphyr )

Thanks. :D Glad you liked it.

It's interesting how this is still noticed long after I made it, lol. But I'm glad it keeps the memory of $jark's time as the head honcho of DA alive.

I actually found it in a google image search. There's not that many that pop up. One recurring one is someone's Jark in a jar. I wanna find that one on DA, but instead it always seems to link to some other site.

That might've been `DivineError -- he does a lot of 3D renders, and I think as I can't be sure off the top of my head, that the rendered Jark-in-a-Jar may be his.

wow it WAS him! :D and I wasn't sure if it was a photo of a model or a 3D image. I mean, it's utterly too clean to be a photo...but then at the same time, the details on the reflection say otherwise. Well according to `DivineError, it is a 3D image. I say good job on the excellent imagery DivineError! :#1:

Heh I had to comment on that one too. That was one of the images that made me put `DivineError on my watch. His "Guy puking hearts all over another guy" I think was what clinched it for me.

Cute. XD It's a bit rough, but that's to be expected with trying to get a specific shape out of apophysis. :D

Agreed. Some people have a more refined way of getting such shapes, but at the skill level I was back then, yeah...it's still a bit rough. :D

Thank you, though. :)

This piece was done over a year ago. I've gotten a much better understanding of Apophysis since then. Feel free to check out my gallery and see if I've fulfilled what you suggested... ;)

It's part of the program. If you've got Apophysis, open it up and look for an icon that looks just like a gradient. A window will pop up.

Then just push the slider around. (The word "Rotate" next to it, click on that and you can pulldown to Hue, Saturation, yada yada....and those will help you alter it further.)

Right-click on the gradient in that, and you'll get another pulldown. Try letting go on Randomize. This will make it give you a randomly generated gradient. Rinse and repeat if you want to try more random gradients. :D

You'll notice a skinny little bar with a gradient in it under the main gradient window. Pull down on that and you'll find a whole BIG pile of different "gradients" you can use.

That's a starting point. :D It should help you get a feel.
