Fond Memories

How many of you out there fondly remember playing with Spirograph sets as kids?

I was talking in *Aposhack last night, and besides getting this fractal out of a parampong with *nightmares06 who introduced me to the joys of the tessv1 plugin, I discovered that quite a few fractalists seem to have vivid, fond memories of fooling about with a Spirograph set as kids. Now I don't know if there's some personality thing that ties Spirograph addicts with fractal programs, but it's possible. At the very least, it's the same basic core. Making cool artistic imagery out of mathematical equations, and repeated imagery.

*nightmares06 this one's for you and our long talk about Spirographs. Now I know you saw the params for this with a black background, but I found the final image looked way more awesome in white. And also homages those old Spirograph pictures.

The craziest part is, the postproccess of the render looked like complete, total trash. Noise, noise, noise. I was afraid I'd have to go back and re-render it with some xaos or weight touch-up. Strangely it was much reduced in PS, although it disappeared best against a white background with a touch of Levels. (That's all I did to the fractal, besides a 50% opacity layer dupe of the png render.)

Anyways, this would just not look the same with my standard border-title style, so I left it as is. Should make a wicked canvas print... :evillaugh:
