The ship is called a Valkyrie for a reason.
It's also in a space debris field for a reason.
Viking legend has it the Valkyries found the worthy among the fallen warriors, and took them to Valhalla.
This fits quite well with a space salvager prowling amongst the wrecks of warships, looking for those worthy enough to be resurrected, either through using their components in newer ships, or restoring them wholesale.

Yes it reads "Touch and DIE" over there. Someone's a little too tired of some doofus turning the lights off in the Hangar.
